Sylvia Khromina, PsyD

Dr. Sylvia Khromina is a licensed clinical psychologist and California Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) with a special interest in trauma, dissociation, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and other complex psychological concerns. She earned her Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, along with a Master’s in Applied Sociology and a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Her clinical experience spans work with adults, young adults, and older adults across outpatient, college counseling, community mental health, geriatric, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and private-practice settings. Dr. Khromina specializes in working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, with particular expertise in working with first- and second-generation immigrants. This broad clinical background provides experience with a wide range of psychiatric symptoms, functional difficulties, and psychosocial stressors.

Dr. Khromina has extensive advanced training in the assessment and treatment of trauma and complex psychological conditions, including EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Structural Dissociation, CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based therapies. In her med-legal work, she brings a thorough, analytical, and evidence-informed approach to psychological evaluation, with careful attention to differential diagnosis, contributing factors, and the relationship between psychological symptoms and functioning.

Dr. Khromina is a member of the American Psychological Association, California Psychological Association, and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.

Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time in nature, practicing yoga, traveling, and exploring different cultures.
