David Westerdahl, MD

David Westerdahl, MD, FAAFP, RMSK is a double board-certified, fellowship trained Family Medicine and Sports Medicine physician with more than 20 years of experience specializing in sports medicine, non-surgical orthopedics, and musculoskeletal conditions. He is an actively practicing physician evaluating and treating athletes, active adults, and everyday movers recover from pain, heal from injury, and get back to doing what they love.

Dr. Westerdahl’s extensive clinical and professional sports experience includes serving as a team physician for the Miami Dolphins and the Florida Panthers, as well as serving as Director of Medical Sports Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Florida. Dr. Westerdahl has particular expertise in the evaluation and diagnosis of orthopedic and sports-related injuries involving the joints, tendons, ligaments, muscles, and other musculoskeletal structures.

In his med-legal practice, Dr. Westerdahl applies his clinical and diagnostic experience to provide thorough and objective evaluations.  He has advanced expertise in diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound and holds the RMSK credential, reflecting specialized training in musculoskeletal ultrasound. His areas of expertise include non-surgical orthopedic conditions, including overuse injuries, joint and soft-tissue disorders, tendon and ligament injuries, concussion, and other musculoskeletal complaints. With a strong background in both clinical sports medicine and professional athletics, Dr. Westerdahl brings a comprehensive perspective to his med-legal evaluations and is committed to providing timely and thorough reports based on the medical evidence.
