Dr. Alayan is a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Spine Surgeon. She completed her undergraduate studies at Georgetown University and University of Oxford. She graduated at the top of her class with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Dr. Alayan graduated with Summa Cum Laude distinction and was the recipient of Taylor-Weber Prize. Additionally, she was selected to be a Howard Hughes Research Scholar during her undergraduate years, allowing her to be an active researcher in a neuropharmacology laboratory at the Georgetown University Medical Center. Upon completion of the program, she was selected to receive the prestigious Chapman Medal for the most outstanding research project.
After completing her undergraduate studies, Dr. Alayan earned her medical degree from the highly respected and rigorous program at Georgetown University School of Medicine, graduating again with high honors. Upon graduation from medical school, she chose to pursue her Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at one of the nation’s top hospitals, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
Following successful completion of the five-year Orthopaedic Residency program, Dr. Alayan decided to specialize in the field of Orthopaedic Spine Surgery. She completed a combined Neurosurgical & Orthopedic Spine Surgery Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. During her fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Alayan worked alongside many of the nation’s leaders in the field of Spine Surgery. After completing this top fellowship program, Dr. Alayan pursued a second Spine Surgery fellowship. Completion of this additional fellowship program allowed Dr. Alayan to specifically focus and further specialize in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.
Dr. Alayan is an active member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) as well as North American Spine Society (NASS). She continues to be actively involved in research projects. She has published several articles in peer reviewed journals and presented at national and international meetings. Dr. Alayan is on medical staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and is a member of the Cedars-Sinai Spine Center of Excellence. She provides compassionate, comprehensive, and individualized care to all her patients.
