Dr. Hisla Bates is double board-certified, Harvard trained Pediatric and Adult Psychiatrist. Dr. Bates has over 20 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of severe mental illness and managed care. She completed training in Primary Care Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine and General Psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. She then completed her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts General Hospital in the Department of Psychiatry.
Dr. Bates has an integrative and holistic approach to the treatment of mental illness. She incorporates Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, and the expressive and creative arts while treating children and adults. Dr. Bates has studied with Tal Ben-Shahar, Ph.D., and holds a certification in Positive Psychology from the WholeBeing Institute.
