Mario Fahed, MD is a double board-certified, fellowship-trained psychiatrist. In addition to his practice, he is a med-legal evaluator and a Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Adjunct Faculty at the Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Fahed completed a Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at Yale University and Psychiatry residency at SUNY Upstate.

Dr. Fahed has extensive experience as an attending psychiatrist in geriatric psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, and medical psychiatry. His areas of expertise include dementia and neurocognitive disorders, capacity assessments, testamentary capacity, psychiatric complications of neurologic and medical illness (including Parkinson’s disease and post-stroke syndromes), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), agitation in older adults, and the ethical and clinical management of vulnerable populations. He has served on the Ethics Committee at UConn Health’s John Dempsey Hospital and participated in quality assurance review for the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services.

An award-winning educator and nationally recognized leader in geriatric psychiatry education, Dr. Fahed is the 2024 recipient of the “National Educator of the Year” award from the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry. He has received multiple clinical teaching awards, including the Gold Humanism Honor Society faculty award and repeated recognition from residents and fellows for excellence in inpatient supervision and mentorship. He previously served as Psychiatry Clerkship Director and later Faculty Co-Director of Medical Student Affairs at UConn School of Medicine.

Dr. Fahed has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading journals including The American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, Translational Psychiatry, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology Clinical Cancer Informatics.

Dr. Fahed is fluent in English, French, and Arabic.

Outside of work, Dr. Fahed enjoys spending time by the water, photography, music and high -intensity interval raining.
