James Fortman, PsyD

James Fortman, PSY26321, is a licensed clinical psychologist, neuropsychologist and Qualified Medical Evaluator. He earned a bachelor’s degree in cognitive science from UC Berkeley and master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from Antioch University Santa Barbara.

He completed a pre-doctoral internship in adult neuropsychology at the UC Davis Medical Center in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department and a 2-year post-doctoral neuropsychology residency with the Center for Bio-Behavioral Science. For over 15 years, Dr. Fortman has conducted psycho-educational, independent educational, psychological, vocational, medical-legal, and neuropsychological evaluations in various settings including K-12 schools, inpatient and outpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, the Department of Rehabilitation and in his capacity as a QME.  In addition, Dr. Fortman works as a medical expert as a forensic neuropsychologist, consulting on cases, performing medical record reviews and completing neuropsychological evaluations.

He has been in private practice since 2014 where he provides assessments of neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities, as well as neurodegenerative conditions including mild cognitive impairment, dementia, brain injury, stroke and other neurological challenges.
