Dr. Michael Shehata is a board-certified, fellowship trained cardiac electrophysiologist. He currently holds the role of Director of the Invasive Electrophysiology Laboratory and Program Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Training Program at the Smidt Heart Institute. He specializes in catheter ablation for complex atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, cardiac electronic implanted devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators, conduction system pacing, and left atrial appendage occlusion. Dr. Shehata is a clinician educator and researcher, having been the principal investigator on groundbreaking clinical trials in leadless pacemakers as well as advancing technologies for ablation including pulse field catheter ablation. He earned his medical degree at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency program at the UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Shehata went on to complete the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship Training and Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Training Programs at Cedars-Sinai.
